Privacy Policy

Aliveness ("we," "our," or "us") operates a WhatsApp-based relational practice companion available at www.aliveness.ai. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you interact with our service.
Information We Collect
When you use the Aliveness WhatsApp service, we collect:
- Phone number. Used to identify you, authenticate your session, and deliver messages.
- Message content. The narratives, reflections, and responses you send us. This is the core input that powers your identity portrait and experiment recommendations.
- Usage patterns. Which commands you use, how often you interact, and when experiments are completed or skipped.
- Peer reflections. If another user submits a reflection about you via a peer invite, that content is associated with your profile.
We do not collect financial information, location data, or any information beyond what you send us via WhatsApp.
How We Use Your Information
- Build and update your identity portrait — a living synthesis of your relational patterns, tendencies, and growth edges.
- Generate personalized relational practice experiments tailored to your portrait.
- Send you timely nudges when experiments are due or completed.
- Improve the quality and relevance of AI-generated content over time.
AI Processing
Your narratives and reflections are processed by large language models to generate your identity synthesis and experiment recommendations. This processing happens on Google Cloud infrastructure (Vertex AI / Gemini). We do not use your data to train foundational AI models. Generated outputs are stored and associated with your account.
Third-Party Services
We work with the following third-party processors to deliver the service:
- Twilio — delivers and receives WhatsApp messages on our behalf.
- Google Firebase — handles authentication and session management.
- Google Cloud (Vertex AI) — processes narratives and generates AI outputs.
- Google Firestore & Cloud SQL — stores your profile, state, and experiment history.
Each of these providers operates under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements. We do not sell your information to third parties. We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or messaging opt-in data with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes.
WhatsApp Messaging
How you opt in. You opt in to receive WhatsApp messages from Aliveness by initiating a conversation with our WhatsApp number — either by visiting aliveness.ai/start and tapping "Start on WhatsApp," or by messaging our number directly. No messages are sent to users who have not first contacted us.
What you'll receive. By opting in, you consent to receive messages from Aliveness including: identity portrait updates, weekly experiment prompts, experiment completion reminders, peer reflection notifications, and occasional service announcements. Message frequency varies based on your activity — typically 2–5 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply.
How to opt out. Text STOP at any time to unsubscribe and stop all messages. Text START to resume. Text HELP for support. You may also contact us at hello@updates.aliveness.ventures to request removal.
No third-party marketing. We do not share or sell your mobile phone number or WhatsApp opt-in data with any third party for marketing or promotional purposes. Your number is used solely to deliver the Aliveness service.
Data Retention
We retain your identity portrait, experiment history, and message content for as long as you are an active user. If you stop using the service, we retain your data for up to 12 months before deletion, unless you request earlier deletion.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at hello@updates.aliveness.ventures. Deletion requests will be fulfilled within 30 days.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted transit (TLS), access-controlled cloud infrastructure, and Firebase authentication to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's Privacy
The Aliveness service is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
