Aliveness

Privacy

What we keep, and what stays with you.

Effective October 24, 2026. This replaces the policy dated October 8, 2026.

Aliveness is being relaunched as a practice you do in your browser. Parts of the earlier service, the Aliveness app at app.aliveness.ai and the WhatsApp companion, still run while we rebuild. This policy covers both and says which is which.

Aliveness is operated by Aliveness Ventures (“we”, “us”). Questions go to hello@aliveness.ventures.

The practice at aliveness.ai/begin

This practice was retired on October 24, 2026, and aliveness.ai/begin now leads to The Current at thecurrent.love, which has its own policy. This section describes how it worked and what we still hold from it.

You can do the practice without an account. Nothing asks for your name.

Your camera and microphone

If you choose to move in front of the camera or to use your voice, the video and sound are processed on your device, inside your browser. Raw video and audio never leave your device. We never receive them, and nothing records them.

What the page keeps from a practice is its shape, which we call a thread. From your voice: loudness, the contour of the pitch, pace and pauses. From the camera: where your shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles move and how much, reduced to one path. A thread cannot be turned back into your voice or your image.

Your thread and your words

In this version of the practice, your thread and the line you write when you listen stay in your browser. Nothing from the sitting is sent to us unless you ask for a reminder (below).

Requests to other services

To follow movement, the page downloads movement-tracking code from jsDelivr, and its fonts come from Google Fonts. Like any web request, these show those services your IP address. They receive nothing from your practice.

Next-day reminders

Until October 24, 2026, at the end of the practice you could ask us to bring your line back to you the next morning. If you did, we received:

For now, a person on our team reads your line and sends it back to you by hand. We send one email. We don’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t use your line for anything else. It is stored in Google Firestore, and our team is notified through Resend, our email provider. Write to us and we’ll delete it.

The Aliveness app and the WhatsApp companion

These are the earlier service. They keep running for current members until the relaunch replaces them, and this section describes them as they work today.

What we collect

We do not collect payment information or your location.

How we use it

To build and update your portrait, suggest experiments, send reminders about them, and improve the quality of what the service writes.

AI processing

Your narratives and reflections are processed by large language models on Google Cloud (Vertex AI and Gemini) to write your portrait and suggest experiments. We do not use your content to train AI models.

Who can see it

Your portrait, including reflections other people wrote about you, is read by you and by the members of any Circle you join. Nobody outside a Circle you belong to can read it. You can see who is in a Circle before you join. What you share only with Aliveness stays there.

WhatsApp messages

Opting in. You opt in by starting a conversation with our WhatsApp number, by messaging us directly. We send nothing to anyone who has not contacted us first.

What you’ll receive. Portrait updates, experiment prompts and reminders, notes when someone has reflected on you, and occasional service announcements, typically two to five messages a week. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out. Text STOP at any time to stop all messages, START to resume, and HELP for support. You can also write to hello@aliveness.ventures.

We do not share or sell your phone number or your opt-in with anyone for marketing.

Retention

We keep your portrait, experiment history and messages while you use the service. If you stop, we keep them for up to 12 months and then delete them, sooner if you ask.

Who processes data for us

Each works under its own privacy terms and a data processing agreement with us. We do not sell your information.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to hello@aliveness.ventures. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.

Security

Data travels encrypted (TLS) and is stored on access-controlled cloud infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we take reasonable care to protect what you give us.

Age

Aliveness is for adults, 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger, and if we learn we have, we delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. The relaunch will change it again, and we’ll say what changed.
